Alan Curbishley is Sky Bet 6/5 front-runner to make a comeback to Charlton Athletic and follow Alan Pardew as manager. 2nd favorite is Aidy Boothroyd, who's been shortened to 6/4 (from 4/1) to accept the reins at the Valley. Caretaker manager, Phil Parkinson who will take control against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, is 7/1 to be named on a permanent basis. Former Spurs first team coach, Gus Poyet, is proposed at 12/1, with Sam Allardyce also cited at 12/1 to bring in a return to management with Charlton.
Having unsuccessful to win in 8 consecutive games and resting 3rd from bottom of the table, the Addicks are 7/2 to outwit QPR on Tuesday and 3/1 to be playing League One football next season.

The first leg of our weekend accumulator starts on Friday night, where peerless Reading travel to Kenilworth Road. Reading are priced at an amazing 11/10 bet365 to beat Luton, who have already suffered home defeats this season to the likes of Stoke, Burnley and Hull. Reading are proving to be different class, so a bet365 11/10 quote looks far too big.

On Sunday at 6.30pm, BBC1 and bet365 are offering us Aston Villa (11/8) against Man City (19/10). The Blues are playing some attractive stuff, but are incredibly inconsistent of late, with 3 wins and 3 defeats in their last 6 Premiership games.

bet365's odds reflects how closely matched these two are (7/5 Liverpool bet365, 2/1 Man Utd bet365) and Rio Ferdinand's last minute winner at Old Trafford last month followed a 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier in the season. Of course, you can't discount the draw here (2/1)bet365 , so the best value looks to be on the Asian handicap where there is a 0 ball mark-up. Liverpool are available at 1.85 with Man Utd 2.00 (you get your money back if it's a draw). In such tight matches, the 0 ball Asian handicap at bet365 offers incredible value (betting to 104%).

West Ham v Birmingham
Mo Feb 13 - 20.00 BST ko (SS1)
Monday’s live encounter (up to 14 bet365 ‘In-Play’ markets available) looks closer to call, with slight preference for West Ham at 10/11, who are on a six-game winning streak. However, with Birmingham on the rise too, the better bet looks to be on the ‘Over’ goals market. If you ignore an end-of-year two-game blip, the Hammers have scored in all of their last 15 games, with 15 goals in the last six. Unfortunately for them, they’ve also been conceding plenty too! Since drawing 0-0 with Arsenal back in December, they’ve managed just two clean sheets in all competitions.

13/10 About Toon and Gloom at the Cottage
Well, what about last week? The FA Cup saw more giant killings than a Jack-and-the-Beanstalk convention. I mean, we all expect the odd shock here and there, but to see so many Premiership teams humbled was beyond anyone’s expectation. After a difficult draw for the likes of Bolton, West Ham and Blackburn, the outright market remains largely unchanged. Chelsea (11/4), Man Utd (7/2), Arsenal (13/2) and Liverpool (13/2) still head the betting, with Newcastle offering the best of the rest, after a kind draw, at 14/1.
We’re back to the nitty-gritty of league football this weekend, so hopefully matches may go a bit more to form than last weeks madness! For me, the standout bet of the weekend is Fulham to beat Newcastle at 13/10. The reason Fulham occupy 14th place is their away form. At home they’ve a better record than Bolton, Newcastle and Man City. After last week’s disaster against Leyton Orient, Chris Coleman was scathing in his team’s performance, so there could be a backlash here.
It’s also worth remembering that Newcastle are constantly overrated by the bookmakers. We all remember the glory days of Keegan, Ginola, Asprilla and the like, but it appears that the romanticism of Newcastle and their long-suffering fans affects the odds compilers, who always show the Magpies too much respect. Newcastle (7/4 to win the match) are only 3 points better off than Fulham, and will be without Michael Owen. The Magpies have recorded only one league win in 10 attempts without the England striker, and that came against hapless Sunderland.
Premiership Pick:
Fulham to beat Newcastle @ 13/10

In life, I have two goals; (That's one more than Djibril Cisse.) to see world
peace in my lifetime, and to make a consistent profit on football betting.
Unfortunately, only one of my goals is achievable.
World peace moved a step closer this week as Arsene Wenger offered Alex Ferguson
an olive branch. (He ran out of soup and pizza.) The Arsenal manager slammed the
supporters who booed Sir Alex off the pitch last weekend, in a show of support
for his old nemesis.
The Scot's diminishing popularity is due to the team's formation, 451 and 433
are not just the most common answers in the 'Guess the age of Wayne Rooney's
next female companion' competition, they're also the source of the United
supporters frustration.
A midweek win in Europe silenced the critics, and a return to form against
Fulham will put the issue to sleep. The United manager will not be booed this
weekend, although it's a fair possibility that he'll be hissed at some stage.
Back Man U
at 4/7 to return to winning ways.
The Liverpool v Chelsea clash looks good on paper, but on closer inspection, a
dull game is the probable outcome. Liverpool have played four matches against
decent opposition; away to Spurs and Boro, and home clashes with Man U and
Chelsea, all four finished goalless. Tip of the week? You can't spell Liverpool
without two O's.
Get on the
goalless draw at 8/1.

In other Premiership games this weekend, Newcastle look nailed on to win at a hapless Pompey. It hasn’t taken the Toon long to find their feet since the arrival of , Michael Owen, and the 7/5 just has to be taken. At the same time Owen looks a fair bet at 5/1 to open the scoring, especially considering we’ll give you your money back. if he scores the last goals in the game instead.

Su Oct 2 – 4:00 pm ko – (SS1)
It’s a busy week at Anfield, with Chelsea visiting in the week and again in the Premiership on Sunday. Both games are likely to be tense affairs, however, based on previous encounters, goals are likely to be at a premium. The pair met five times last season, and every game was close ending either in a draw or with a single goal deciding the outcome. Only the League Cup Final produced more than one goal, so the main bet has to be ‘under’ 2.5 goals at 4/7. Given the current points standings between the two teams, Liverpool might have the greater need to win the game and, with Chelsea finally conceding last weekend, the Reds are fancied to nick this 1-0 at 7/1 (live ‘In-Play’ betting available).
